No One Believes Me...


What should you do if nobody believes that you have a mental disability (memory lapses, lack of concentration, difficulty with daily life, etc.)?

Have you talked to a professional about this? My first suggestion is to talk with a therapist. If you feel as though you have a problem, then you probably do. Let the therapist know how long these problems have persisted. Take into account current events in your life. Is there anything happening in your life that could be causing or contributing to the lack of concentration, memory lapse, etc.? Are there certain instances when these symptoms are more evident? Keeping a journal is often good for sorting out your thoughts and feelings. Many times when patients talk with their doctors, they will unintentionally leave out something that they intended to tell their doctor. A journal allows you to note certain behaviors or feelings that you want to share with your doc. If you have already talked with a professional about this, then I suggest seeking a second opinion.     This sounds very much like symptoms that may be indicative of a physical illness which will in turn cause mental difficulties that become increasingly worse if undiagnosed. You should try to rule out actual physical illness first or at least, as well, which shows up with these type of feeliings. YOU know if things are NOT RIGHT and you are going to have to stay strong until you ARE heard and that's not an easy task. Be sure to include a physical exam with bloodwork and a concentration toward testing the endocrine system or the thyroid, etc. Look the symptoms up online a do some research yourself on it.
