Cassandra Gilley, M.A. — Contributor

Cassandra is a Master's level clinician who has worked in the mental health field for 5 years. She got into the mental health field because her own journey has taught her that our greatest struggles can often lead us to discover our greatest strengths. She is currently conducting research on the effectiveness of mindfulness in helping soldiers deal with chronic pain while reducing their reliance on opiate medications. Her previous work included work with people recovering from severe mental illness and suicide attempts in a psychiatric hospital and aiding adolescents in the juvenile corrections system work towards successful reintegration into their communities. Her passion for health and wellness is also reflected in her own lifestyle. She has been practicing yoga since 2005 and spent a couple months in India to deepen that practice, she is currently a 500 hour certified yoga therapist. She observes an organic vegan/vegetarian diet and loves to cook and share her recipes with others as she believes food is one of the best medicines that can lead to long term health and wellness. In her spare time she enjoys reading and learning new things, hiking and being outdoors in beautiful Colorado and spending time with her daughter.
