Fighting Stigma

Question:

I’m a nursing graduate student interested in developing a program to combat the stigma of mental illness. Are you aware of any stigma-battling programs that have had results that are statistically significant? I’d appreciate any information you could give me…reference citations, etc. Thanks!

Answer:

I don’t know about statistical significance – but I do know that the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI) is an organization that you ought to check out. NAMI has been working to reduce the stigma attached to mental illness for over two decades. Visit them on the web at http://www.nami.org
