Natalie Staats Reiss, Ph.D. is a licensed Psychologist in the state of Ohio (License #6083). She received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV (1997). Dr. Reiss completed a predoctoral internship (1997) and a postdoctoral clinical geropsychology fellowship (1998) at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center , in Palo Alto California. After her fellowship, she provided clinical services to older adults in nursing homes and assisted living buildings in the San Francisco Bay Area. She then went to Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio where she completed a National Institutes of Health postdoctoral research fellowship (2001) with an interdisciplinary team investigating the predictors of successful aging. Following this fellowship, she was Assistant Professor of Psychology at Hiram College, in Hiram, Ohio as well as maintaining a small private practice in geropsychology.

Dr. Reiss' previous research projects have focused on the predictors of healthy aging, stress and burnout in hospice care staff, the levels of spirituality in clinical geropsychologists, and teaching end-of- life issues to undergraduate college students. Clinically, Dr. Reiss has focused on serving the mental health needs of older adults and their caregivers, with special interest in residents of long-term care facilities.

In addition to her interests in editing, writing and clinical geropsychology, Dr. Reiss enjoys reading, gourmet cooking, spending time with friends and family, exercising, going to the beach, and learning about the history of the Arts and Crafts movement in art and architecture. Her husband, 6 year-old daughter, 1 year-old son, and 1912 Craftsman-style bungalow keep her entertained and on her toes.
