Michael W. Adamowicz, LICSW — Contributor

I obtained my MSW from New York University in 1985. My training and practice has included many of the methods within the psychodynamic, cognitive and behavioral therapies. Currently, my style of treatment is best described as eclectic and pragmatic.

My experience, including thousands of hours of clinical practice, is that no single theory or treatment approach is "the best" for everyone. Some styles work better or worse given your unique needs and background. My approach is to draw from the various schools of evidence-based treatments and provide care based on a person's specific situation.

My approach is to draw from the various schools of evidence-based treatments and provide care based on your specific situation. In selecting from a number of types of treatment, my approach is eclectic. And in focusing on what works and is effective for you, my treatment is pragmatic. I work together with clients to find the strategies that help that specific person with his/her problems and life situation.

Areas that I specialize in include anxiety, depression, and substance abuse. I work with both teenagers and adults. The treament modalities that I use are individual and couples counseling.
