The Dalai Lama with the moth-like wings acts as a sort of Jiminy Cricket figure for Henry. He is based loosely on a cartoon version of the Dalai Lama that I would also speak to on occasion. Most of my hallucinations were cartoons, probably because of my fondness for comics and animation. The “Dalai Lama” was one of the more comforting delusions, because he was always in a good mood, and would often throw in a good joke now and again. He did not really act much like the real Tenzin Gyatso at all, but strangely enough, I was still enough under the spell of the whole thing to believe that the “Dalai Lama” I was seeing was a kind of psychic link to the real one, or at least a symbolic premonition of a future meet-up with the real one. At one point there was even a vision in the style of a television game show, with the animated Dalai Lama hosting it, the show entitled ‘Wheel of Dharma’. Funny stuff, to say the least!
