Yes, the meds can often be just as bad as the disorder. Thankfully, I’m not on nearly as much as I was in the past, even before experiencing psychosis. I found an antipsychotic that works, but that also doesn’t sedate me terribly, or cripple my creativity. (I take Seroquel XR, if you’re interested – I can’t take regular Seroquel and still call myself an artist!)
If anyone has any other positive antipsychotic medication experiences, I’d like to hear about them. A whole slew of new atypicals seem to have come out in recent times, but I don’t know enough about what it’s like to take them. (I was on Clopixol for a while, which is an old school medication, and it made me feel TERRIBLE.)
