I wrote this comic right after the day of the 2009 Toronto Mad Pride Bed Push. This event happens each year, and is a ceremony that involves, as the title suggests, the pushing of a hospital gurney from CAMH’s 1001 Queen (psychiatric hospital) all the way to PARC, a community meeting place located further down the street, in the village of Parkdale. The event symbolizes the escape of inpatients from the hospital, to a place free of oppression. When we reach PARC, a party breaks out that involves snacks, speeches, and drumming.

Mad Pride is very young, but it is attracting more and more people with each passing year.
