This one is excessively wordy, yet I chose not to redraw it because, in the case of this character, I wanted the whole thing to seem overwhelming. First off, Sarah is dealing with a one-sided affair of the heart, something that we’re all familiar with to some extent. Secondly, she seems to have a recurring issue with psychotic disturbances. The psychosis amplifies her problems with obsession, generating complex delusions of various sorts that are hard to ignore because several are based on ideas that consume her thoughts anyway. The result: Sarah wants to believe that she is adored by someone who barely knows her, so she clings to the idea that a miniature duplicate of him exists in a plant, and that the duplicate was sent to love her during this troublesome period. From this blossoms one of the most complicated, surreal experiences in the comic series.

Sarah’s story will bring to light some of the imagined physical symptoms of illnesses like schizophrenia, such as uncomfortable bodily sensations that have no root physical cause. Also, it will attempt to convey the feeling of regressing deeper and deeper into the mind – like being in a strange dream that you can’t easily wake out of. Cognitive impairment was something that affected me for quite a while – thankfully, if it isn’t completely gone now, it’s at least virtually completely gone. Quitting all drugs was a must for my healing – marijuana, for one, was keeping me sick.
