It’s strange what the seemingly commanding voices of a psychotic experience can convince a person to do. Once, I nearly threw out a brand new computer, so to prevent myself from doing so in the future, during one of my quieter moments in the illness, I packed up my whole system, gave it to my father, and canceled my internet service. I had to go around the corner and use my local internet cafe. It’s not that I necessarily believed everything that voices told me, but often I was overwrought with fear that the things they said could be true. In Cath’s case in this comic, not wanting to take any chances, she does what she does outdoors to prevent what she fears might happen if she were to ignore the strong warnings she’s experiencing.
