Please Vote for Volunteers In Psychotherapy (VIP) to win a grant competition, the proceeds of which will help needy people receive free psychotherapy.
Volunteers In Psychotherapy provides free, no-strings-attached, confidential therapy in exchange for volunteer work that their clients do, privately and independently, for the charity of their choice.
VIP director Dr. Richard Shulman was an early guest on our Wise Counsel Podcast series where he talked about the organization and their work.
VIP works outside of insurance reimbursement to make therapy available to anyone, with no reports to insurers and no documentation that becomes part of someone’s medical records. People get access to honest and private discussions about difficult personal and family matters – a very rare thing these days.
The Ashoka Changemakers – Amgen Foundation has recently announced that VIP is one of 10 Finalists out of almost 300 applying organizations for their “Patients – Choices – Empowerment” online grant competition. The 3 winners will be chosen by voting of anyone who visits the site (any interested party can participate — so you, your friends, family, colleagues, anyone can vote)…regarding who will receive $10,000. Even if VIP doesn’t win, organizations may be invited to apply for other funding they make available. This visibility helps VIP tremendously.
VIP’s proposal/application could benefit many people in different communities as it is specifically an application to use funding to help interested groups of therapists (and other stakeholders) to construct their own therapy programs, in other communities.
Voting is now available online through December first. To vote, click here.
Thanks for considering helping VIP’s charitable service in this way.
